“Fabulous autumn” shows a homestead with red roofs among golden fields, with an apple tree, pumpkins and two hares on the path. The mood is warm and slightly cartoon-like.

What the picture shows

The canvas is square and the subject is laid out on a diagonal: the house on the left, the road on the right running back towards the hills. The cottage has several red tiled slopes, a tall brick chimney with a thin thread of smoke and a pink gable with a small window. In front of it stand a white picket fence, a bush with pink flowers, yellow marigolds and a mixed flower bed. An old apple tree hung with red fruit spreads on the right, and behind it mown fields lie in bands of ochre and gold. Two brown hares sit on the sandy path, orange pumpkins rest beside them, and a blue-green spruce darkens the top left. The beads cover the roof, the fence, the foliage, the hares and the flowers, while the sky and the far fields stay as print.
