“At magic lake” is a decorative swan set against a background completely taken over by flowers. The subject is handled in the spirit of folk painting: no empty space, pattern everywhere.

What the picture shows

The swan glides from left to right and takes up almost the full width of the canvas. Its neck and head are worked in dark blue and violet beads with pearl dots, the beak is bright red, and the wing is laid out in long curved rows — blue, turquoise, lilac and silver — so the feathers read as separate ribbons. Stylised flowers, leaves, spirals and berries are scattered around the bird: red, orange, green and turquoise patches on a light ground. There is a hint of water along the bottom and a large flower with red rays in the top left. The beading here is generous, placed as separate islands across the whole field, so the work comes out vivid and festive, while the bare canvas between the motifs works as breathing room.
