Main Bead Embroidery Kit Sparkling still-life

“Sparkling still-life” is a still life with a bottle of white wine, a glass, poppies and grapes inside a wide ornamental border.

What the picture shows

At the centre stands a bottle with a pale label on which the words Pinot Grigio are spelled out in beads. Beside it is a tall glass on a slender stem filled with golden wine; its outline is worked in clear and pale blue beads, so the glass really does read as glass. Around them spread red poppies with black centres, dark green vine leaves and heavy clusters of pink-crimson berries, each berry laid as its own little mound of beads, which makes the bunches rounded. A wide terracotta border runs around the edge with golden scrolls and droplets worked in ochre and bronze. Eighteen colours, and almost half of them go into the border alone. The poppies and berries are built up in several layers of beads, while the smooth pale middle of the canvas stays as print, so the border and the flowers stand out noticeably above it.
