Main Bead Embroidery Kit World map - 3
Description
“World map - 3” shows Asia and Australia built from saturated patches of colour.
What the picture shows
The third part of the triptych is the most contrasted. Northern Asia is worked in dark green, blue and near black, crimson and purple flare in the middle, and the eastern edge of the landmass is handled in pink and lilac. Towards the bottom the land breaks up into islands made of small green and red beads. Below the continent, on its own, lies Australia — the only area taken in a warm brick and rust range, which pulls the eye at once. The background is again cream with golden stains and stays as print on the canvas, so the stitched areas read as colour set into old paper. Seventeen shades make this the widest palette of the three panels. As in the neighbouring panels the background is not stitched, so all the attention falls on the boundaries between the colour patches; the transitions inside Asia are the finest, and that is what makes this panel look the most demanding of the three.
