Main Bead Embroidery Kit Poppies and buldenezh

“Poppies and buldenezh” is a bouquet of red poppies and white snowball viburnum in a glass vase, set into an oval with a patterned border.

What the picture shows

The flowers are packed tightly: the large poppies are worked in several shades of red with black centres, while the viburnum heads are built from white and cream beads in small clusters, so they read as round balls. Rich green leaves darken between them. The vase is transparent with a bluish turquoise sheen, and the stems show through it. One cut poppy lies on the pale cloth beside it. Inside the oval the background stays painted and softly blurred, so the beaded bouquet separates clearly from it. The border is a story of its own: a wide oriental-style ornament in mint, turquoise and orange beads frames the scene like the pattern on a shawl. Because of that border the piece looks as though the flowers are already framed, so it needs no extra moulding, and the beadwork covers both the bouquet and the whole edge ornament.
