Main Bead Embroidery Kit Spring is everywhere-2

“Spring is everywhere-2” repeats the window motif, this time with a bouquet of red tulips in a painted vase.

What the picture shows

An arched frame in ochre yellow divides the canvas into bright panes; through them you see a spring path, shrubs and tall trees under a blue sky. At the centre is a full bouquet of double tulips: the petals are worked in red, coral and terracotta beads with yellow veining, so the flowers come out striped. The round-bellied vase is covered in a blue and violet marbling with a sheen. On the left side of the sill stands a small cage the colour of cinnamon with a blue tit perched on it, and beside it lie a cut tulip and a few loose petals. The landscape beyond the window stays as print on the canvas — beads go onto the frame, the flowers and the cage, and those are what come forward. Twenty-seven shades make this the widest palette of the two window scenes. The small details — the veins in the petals, the rods of the cage, the glazing bars — are picked out bead by bead, so the piece is easier to stitch in good daylight.
