Main Bead Embroidery Kit Spring is everywhere-1

“Spring is everywhere-1” is a view through an open window: irises are in bloom on the sill, while a green riverbank shows beyond the frame.

What the picture shows

The composition is held together by a golden ochre window frame, with a green scalloped drape above it — solidly beaded, it is the densest area of stitching in the piece. On the sill stands a porcelain bowl with blue painting, and out of it grows a clump of white and creamy yellow irises with long pointed leaves. On the right there is a woven cage the colour of dark copper with its little door open, and a speckled bird has settled on the frame outside. Beyond the window the background stays painted: a band of water, green treetops and a distant shore are not stitched, so the foreground of flowers and fabric clearly steps forward. Twenty-four shades give smooth transitions in the petals, from clean white to warm ochre. The density of the stitching varies: the drape and the bowl are covered solidly, while the flowers are worked in separate stitches, so the petals look lighter than the fabric.
