Main Bead Embroidery Kit Spring mood

“Spring mood” is a portrait of a young woman with a whole season of blossom woven into her hair; she looks straight at the viewer, calm and slightly pensive.

What the picture shows

White and pink blooms, small blue flowers and green leaves surround her head and shoulders and fall downward together with strands of her hair. Her dress is pale, almost white, with lilac and pearly shifts of colour, and a translucent butterfly crosses the right edge. The background is painted in watercolour patches — ochre, terracotta, turquoise, cool violet — with more flowers and branches suggested at the bottom. The palette stays in light tones, which is why the face, left mostly as print on the canvas, reads softly and painterly. The beads cover the flowers, the hair, the fabric of the dress and the coloured patches of the background, so the piece gains its relief exactly around the face. In the lower right corner a hand rests on the chest, with a few small flowers beside it.
