Main Bead Embroidery Kit Sky sail

“Sky sail” shows a figure in red walking through shallow water towards an enormous ship assembled from clouds right there in the sky. The subject is romantic and slightly fairy-tale, built on the contrast of blue and gold.

What the picture shows

The lower half of the picture is water: even, almost mirror-like, with long pale bands of reflection and a dark trail of shadow. A person in a red jacket walks across it with their back to the viewer, and that silhouette is the only warm patch in this part. Above, just over the horizon, a sailing ship rises: its sails and hull are painted as if woven from sunlit clouds, in ochre, gold and pink. The sky around it is deep blue, close to night, and rays and small bright strokes radiate from the ship in every direction. The beads cover almost the entire field — the water with its highlights, the sails and the rays in the sky — so the work glows in any light.
