Main Bead Embroidery Kit Emerald whirlpool

“Emerald whirlpool” is an abstract composition in which hundreds of fine coloured lines twist into one large vortex. The work is purely decorative, with no recognisable subject.

What the picture shows

The whole field of the picture is filled with long bands rotating around a deep blue core set slightly above the centre. The bands are made of small strokes: emerald, grass green, turquoise, yellow-green, ultramarine, with occasional pale pink and lilac veins. Closer to the edges the lines open into wider arcs, while at the centre they draw tight, which creates a sense of clockwise movement. Scattered across the field are small round “eyes” with orange-red centres in blue rims — they recall peacock ocelli and hold the rhythm of the composition. Here the beads cover almost the entire surface, following the direction of every wave, so the finished piece is strongly textured and catches the light differently depending on the viewing angle.
