“Girl's dreams” shows a girl with long black hair in an embroidered shirt, wearing coral beads and gold earrings against a flowered carpet background. The work is decorative and built on Ukrainian ornamental motifs.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown almost in profile: the girl lifts her head, closes her eyes and holds a heavy strand of hair that falls over her shoulder in a dark wave. She wears a white shirt with red and black embroidery on the sleeve and collar, several strands of red coral beads and long gold earrings, with flowers in her hair. The background is densely filled with pattern: large roses and blue flowers on red above, a band of geometric ornament with diamonds on the right, and blue and lilac paisley shapes on a darker field to the left. The beads cover the shirt, the coral strands, the earrings, the flowers in her hair and almost the whole ornamental background; the face, the hands and the hair itself stay as print on the canvas, so the girl steps softly out of the pattern.
