Main Bead Embroidery Kit St.Vera, Nadegda, Lubov and their Mother Sophia
Description
“St.Vera, Nadegda, Lubov and their Mother Sophia” is an icon-style image with four figures on a pale blue ground inside a wide ornamental border. The work is restrained and solemn, with a great many small details.
What the picture shows
Sophia stands behind in grey-lilac robes and a dark veil, holding an open red book in front of her. Before her are the three daughters, each of a different height and colour: on the left a figure in a terracotta-orange dress with dark green outer garment, in the centre the youngest in pale pink holding an unrolled scroll with text, and on the right one in a deep violet cloak over pink. Golden haloes sit above all four heads, with small name inscriptions above them and a line of lettering along the bottom of the image. The border down the sides is worked in fine ornament with red and blue diamonds on a golden ground. The beads cover the haloes, the garments, the book, the scroll and the whole border; the faces and hands stay as print on the canvas, as is usual for icon subjects.
