Main Bead Embroidery Kit Gladioluses

“Gladioluses” is a generous bouquet of gladioli in a soft pink and lilac range against a pale blurred background. A calm floral subject with no excess decoration.

What the picture shows

The bouquet is built on a diagonal: the flower spikes run from the lower left corner up and to the right, and single buds on tall stems reach almost past the edge of the picture. The blooms differ in colour — pink, crimson, lilac, cream-white and peach, with yellow and greenish centres; the petals are wavy with clear folds. Long pointed leaves and thin green stems break through between them. The background is light, pearly grey with blue and ochre, painted in broad strokes, so it only supports the bouquet instead of competing with it. The beads cover the flowers themselves, the buds, the leaves and a few pale curls at the bottom; the background and the blurred table surface stay as print on the canvas, and it is against them that the petals gain their volume.
