Main Bead Embroidery Kit Love story – 2

“Love story – 2” shows a couple kissing under an umbrella on a wet evening street. He wears a brown coat, she a red dress and heels; the city behind them dissolves into the warm light of lamps and windows. This is the second of the rainy subjects and the warmest in mood.

What the picture shows

The composition is vertical and tightly packed: the figures hold the centre, the umbrella cuts across the upper edge, and the flooded paving glitters below. The colours are contrasting — red and brown in the figures, black and grey in the umbrella, fiery orange patches of light in the distance and cool white glints on the asphalt. Beads cover both figures, the umbrella and the main pools of light, while the blurred buildings and part of the evening sky stay as print on the artist canvas, which is why the couple steps so clearly forward. The couple's reflection shows in the water below and repeats the rounded outline of the umbrella.
