“White happiness” shows a white peacock on a branch, tail open and crest raised. The bird is entirely white apart from the warm tone of its beak, and against dark tropical foliage it looks almost luminous. The mood is stately and calm.

What the picture shows

The composition is vertical: the fan of the tail fills the upper part while the long feathers fall and cross large scalloped leaves below. The feathers carry most of the beadwork — laid in white, pearl and faintly blue beads running in different directions, so the eyes on the plumes stand out even from a distance and the tail keeps a light, almost transparent look. The leaves are stitched in strong emerald and grass green. The dark background of blurred foliage stays as print on the artist canvas, and that contrast pushes the white bird forward. The branch the bird sits on is barely visible among the leaves, so the peacock seems to hold itself in mid-air.
