Main Bead Embroidery Kit Leaf fall

“Leaf fall” is a decorative panel built around a large stylised sunflower, with carved autumn leaves scattered all around it. A turquoise dragonfly has settled on the petals.

What the picture shows

Every element here is ornamental: the sunflower’s centre is filled with concentric rings and fine patterning, and the leaves are covered in curls, dots and lacework that recalls folk painting. The range is warm and autumnal — terracotta, burnt ochre, rusty red, muted green and turquoise. Acorns with patterned caps are dotted through the corners, and another large rosette-flower appears at the lower left. A vertical ornamental band with diamonds crosses the background on the left. Every leaf differs in colour and carries its own pattern, so the whole composition reads as a collection of autumn finds gathered together. Beads cover the petals, the leaf veins, the flower centres and the acorns, while the soft blurred background in cream with pink and lilac washes stays as print on the canvas — and that contrast of textures is what gives the panel its punch.
