Main Bead Embroidery Kit Kitchen buffet

“Kitchen buffet” is a tall blue dresser with glazed doors, filled with china, and two potted trees standing in front of it: one orange, one lemon. The mood is Mediterranean, sunny and comfortably domestic.

What the picture shows

The whole cabinet is worked in shades of blue, from deep ultramarine to pale sky, so the grain of the wood still reads through the beadwork. Behind the glass sit white plates, a lidded sugar bowl, a yellow jug, glasses and dark bottles. To the left of the dresser grows a small tree with orange-red fruit and white blossom, and to the right a lemon tree carrying large yellow lemons; both stand in terracotta pots. The lower counter holds patterned ceramic bowls, a stack of books and a framed picture of a fruit basket. Beads go over the dresser, the fruit, the china and the foliage, while the warm ochre wall behind stays as print — which is exactly what makes the blue of the cabinet ring out.
