Main Bead Embroidery Kit Underwater hunting
Description
“Underwater hunting” shows a tiger beneath the water among seaweed, with bright reef fish beside it. The subject is unexpected and slightly fantastical, built on the contrast of rust and turquoise.
What the picture shows
The predator is shown in profile, in motion: the head lowered, whiskers and facial fur spreading in the water, small bubbles rising from its mouth. The striped coat is worked in rust, black and white beads with crisp transitions, and it occupies most of the canvas. A yellow butterflyfish with a dark band across the eye swims in the upper left, and two small blue-green fish sit below. Long ribbons of seaweed in emerald and olive stretch all around. The background is a pale turquoise body of water with soft highlights at the top; it stays as print on the canvas, so the tiger and the fish step forward. Eighteen colours across more than eighteen thousand beads give the animal dense coverage.
