Main Bead Embroidery Kit Jazz age girls (Part 2)

“Jazz age girls – 2” is the second piece in the art deco series: a girl in a violet dress holding her hat, standing beside a car with the city behind her. The range is warm ochre and lilac.

What the picture shows

She is shown almost in profile with one arm raised, adjusting a dark hat trimmed with a pale feather. The dress is a saturated violet with a white turned-down collar and a black sash tied in a large bow at the side; the skirt flares, and brown stockings show beneath it. In the lower left is a dark vintage car with a beaded headlamp and a ribbed bonnet, next to a pale patch with a pink pattern. On the right, against a blue field, a clock tower and low city buildings rise, worked in cool blue beads. The rest of the background is golden ochre scrollwork that stays as print on the canvas. Seventeen colours hold the contrast of violet, ochre and blue, and the beads densely cover the dress, the hat, the car and the city silhouettes, so the figure stands out clearly against the soft painted ground.
