Main Bead Embroidery Kit Jazz age girls (Part 1)
Description
“Jazz age girls – 1” is the first piece in the art deco series: a girl in a black fringed dress perched on the wing of a vintage car. The mood is festive, with the lightness the twenties are remembered for.
What the picture shows
She is shown in profile: a green cloche hat fits close to her head, a long string of beads falls down her bare back, and the black dress glitters with fine beadwork ending in a jagged fringe. Her feet are in bright blue buckled shoes, and one gloved hand rests on the bodywork. The car is worked in warm copper-orange beads — a massive radiator grille, a round headlamp, a wooden spoked wheel. The background is abstract, in peach-pink and lilac tones with swirls and patches recalling early-century decorative panels, and it stays mostly as print. Sixteen colours carry the deep black, the warm copper and the cool accents of the shoes, and the beadwork covers the dress, the hat, the necklace and the car body, leaving the painted ground matte.
