Description

“Day-dream” is an autumn park with an empty bench, a forgotten red umbrella and a stone vase full of flowers. The scene is quiet, like a walk that has only just been interrupted.

What the picture shows

A dark slatted bench stands at the centre, a long red throw draped over its back and seat with one end trailing to the ground. An open red umbrella lies on the grass beside it. To the left rises a pale carved vase on a tall stem, spilling pink, crimson and white blossom. All around are autumn trees in orange and gold, the misty depth of the park, a path and fallen leaves underfoot. Twenty-two bead colours make this the widest palette in the group, running from crimson and terracotta to ochre, olive and pale blue. Beads cover the bench, the throw, the umbrella, the vase, the flowers and the crowns, while the blurred trunks and mist stay as print, so the foreground reads sharply.
