“Fabulous dream” shows a fairy girl asleep in the grass among daisies, with large wings like peacock feathers. The piece is decorative, in a deep emerald and turquoise key.

What the picture shows

The fairy lies with her hand tucked under her cheek, her face calm and her eyes closed, a wreath of white daisies with yellow centres in her hair. Behind her the wings unfold: huge feathers with their characteristic eyes in blue, green and red, worked in dense iridescent beads. Dark foliage with small leaves winds along the left edge, and below a spider web strung with dew is stitched in pale beads that almost glow against the dark ground. The eleven colours are built around green and turquoise, with the warm ochre of the skin as the single warm contrast. The background and grass stay largely as print, while the beadwork runs over the wings, the flowers, the wreath and the web, so those are the areas that catch the light.
