Main Bead Embroidery Kit Icon of St.Petr the Prince and St.Fevronia the Princess
Description
“Icon of St. Petr the Prince and St. Fevronia the Princess” is a paired image of two saints traditionally regarded as patrons of married couples. The piece is bright, with a great deal of colour in the clothing.
What the picture shows
The saints stand full length side by side, turned towards each other. The prince on the left wears a red cloak with fur trim over pale patterned robes, and a red princely cap; he holds a cross. The princess on the right wears a white veil marked with beaded crosses, a green cloak and a blue-violet dress, her right hand raised in prayer and a cross in her left. Both halos are gold and the background is light ochre. The wide border is brown and red with square rosettes at the corners, and a band with the saints’ names runs along the bottom. Beads cover the robes, halos, border and crosses, while the faces stay as print. Eighteen colours make this the largest palette among the icons in this group.
