“Goddess of flowers” is a fantasy trio of women whose hair has turned into a lush spring-and-summer bouquet. The piece is decorative and warm, built on peach, orange and green playing against each other.

What the picture shows

Three female profiles lean towards one another in the lower part of the canvas, and above them a mass of blossom rises: peach and orange flowers with open petals, white lilies and bells, small daisies, ripe strawberries and juicy green leaves. One of the goddesses holds a red fruit in her hand. The dresses are worked in golden-brown beads with scrolls and round floral rosettes, which makes the clothing look embossed. The background is a soft ochre wash shading into green; it stays as print on the canvas, and against that matte surface the beaded flowers read as clearly raised. Fourteen colours allow smooth gradients inside each petal, while the faces and hands are barely touched by beadwork so the painted softness survives.
