Main Bead Embroidery Kit Rime

“Rime” is a winter landscape in panoramic format: a frozen river, a snow-covered forest and a low sun breaking through the branches right at the centre. The mood is quiet and frosty, the way a forest feels just after a snowfall, when the air stands completely still.

What the picture shows

The branches are thick with hoarfrost, and they are the parts worked in beads, which gives the piece its silvery shimmer. On the left foreground stands a bush in lilac and violet tones; on the right, between the trunks, a small cabin sits under a cap of snow. A narrow strip of open water in the middle reflects the golden light of the sun, and that warm vertical cuts through the cold blue of the snow. The palette rests on ten colours, from white and icy blue to ochre and warm gold. Sky, distant woods and water stay as print on the canvas, while beads cover the snow, the frost and the sunlit reflections, so the work glows exactly where the light falls.
