Main Bead Embroidery Kit Embrace

“Embrace” is a decorative panel after Viennese art nouveau: a man and a woman merged in an embrace, set into a large golden ornamental field. The woman's face is the one calm note in the dense patterning.

What the picture shows

The figures dissolve almost entirely into their clothing, which becomes a continuous carpet of golden ovals, rectangles, squares and spirals beaded in warm tones — from pale gold to bronze and dark copper. On the left the background is filled with large brown curls on an ivory ground that carry the same rhythm onward. Colour accents are scattered through the pattern: pink and white flower rosettes, black-and-white chequered panels, small green and blue notes. A band of flowering meadow on a dark ground runs along the bottom. The background and part of the ornament stay as print on the canvas, while the beadwork covers the golden areas, which is what gives the piece its relief and shine.
