Main Bead Embroidery Kit Sailfish

“Sailfish” is a quiet southern shore: a wooden sailing boat with its sails half lowered stands by a stony shallow, and hazy mountains rise behind it. A calm, almost windless scene.

What the picture shows

On the left, the boat sits on the water with a tall mast and two cream-ochre sails; its reflection falls across the smooth surface in long bands. The water is a pearly grey that turns clear turquoise near the shore. Behind the boat a snow-capped mountain is barely visible, dissolved in pale haze. The right half is taken up by a green slope: three tall poplars, a spreading tree with rust-tinged leaves and a stone wall, behind which a small white house with a red tiled roof is half hidden. Warm ochre stones lie scattered along the bank. The sails, the foliage, the stones and the glints on the water are beaded, while the sky and the distant mountains stay as print on the canvas, which keeps the depth of the view and makes the foreground noticeably denser. The whole range is warm and muted: greens, ochre, cream and grey-blue, with no harsh contrasts.
