Main Bead Embroidery Kit Home iconostasis «The Lord God Almighty»

The home iconostasis panel “The Lord God Almighty” shows Christ with his right hand raised in blessing and an open book in his left. It is the third panel of the set, paired with the Mother of God and St Nicholas.

What the picture shows

The figure wears a dark red tunic and a blue himation whose folds are stitched in several shades of blue, from almost black to pale sky. The halo is large and laid in gold beads that fan out as rays, and the ground is a warm patterned ochre. The open book in his left hand has pale pages with fine Church Slavonic lettering worked in dark beads. A border of red, blue and gold ornamental elements runs around the image, with an inscription panel at the bottom. The face, the hair and the hands stay as print on the artist canvas, which keeps the features fine while the beadwork holds the rest of the surface. Blue and red balance each other here, and the gold of the halo pulls the composition together.
