Main Bead Embroidery Kit Basket of summer

“Basket of summer” shows a wicker basket filled with meadow flowers — ox-eye daisies, red poppies and blue cornflowers. The bunch is packed generously, heaped above the rim, and a few blooms have already fallen onto the ground beside it.

What the picture shows

The basket sits directly in front of the viewer, its light russet weave stitched in large even rows, with the curved handle arching through the middle of the bouquet. Daisies dominate: white petals with yellow centres are scattered across the whole field of the picture. Between them burn red poppies with dark folds in their petals and blue-violet cornflowers, while the leaves and stems are worked in bands of different greens, from bright lime to deep grass. The background is deliberately plain — pale clouded sky above, yellowish green grass below — and it stays as print on the canvas, so all the attention falls on the beaded flowers and on the few petals lying on the ground.
