Main Bead Embroidery Kit Window to New York

“Window to New York” shows a woman in a black-and-gold gown with a pale blue wrap seated by a window, the Empire State Building rising through blue haze beyond it. The mood is evening and restrained.

What the picture shows

The figure is seen from behind and slightly to the side: bare shoulders, hair dressed with a blue band, a string of pearls at the neck. The gown is black with large gold rosettes and scrollwork, and a light blue silk falls in folds over her shoulder. Drapes on either side of the window carry the same gold-ochre damask pattern as the walls. The night skyscraper is painted in blue tones in the window opening. Beads cover the gown, the wrap, the hair and the curtain pattern, while the city view stays as print on the canvas. The skirt spreads wide and takes up almost the whole lower half of the frame. To the left of the figure the pale silk folds contrast with the dark fabric, while on the right the curtain pattern echoes the gold of the gown.
