Description

“Hawaiian breeze” is a panoramic view of a tropical bay seen through plumeria branches. White blossoms with yellow centres frame the picture on both sides, and between them the sea and a green mountain open up.

What the picture shows

The format is strongly elongated and the composition is built on exactly that: heavy flower clusters and broad leaves fill the left and right, while the centre is left open for the water and the sandy shore. The petals are stitched in shifting white, cream and warm yellow, the leaves in rich green with dark veining, the branches in brown. The bay, the hazy mountain, the clouded sky and the sand stay as print on the canvas. Beads cover the flowers, the foliage and the branches, so the foreground steps forward and the view recedes. Branches enter the frame from both the top and the bottom, and the blossoms gather several flowers at a time. The petals nearer the shore catch a warmer yellow than those tucked into the shade of the leaves.
