Main Bead Embroidery Kit The elegant century

“The elegant century” shows a European town street just after rain, with a cafe, outdoor tables and a crowd dressed in the fashion of the early twentieth century. The cobblestones are still wet and mirror the figures.

What the picture shows

The composition is held in a cool blue-turquoise range. On the left stands a deep blue cafe facade with lanterns, stained glass and boxes of pink flowers under the windows. Guests sit at the tables, and a couple stands in the centre: a man in a light suit and hat, a woman in a white dress with a parasol. Beyond them are a vintage car, half-timbered houses and a sharp church spire. A small white dog dashes about underfoot and pigeons walk nearby. Beads cover the facades, the flowers, the figures and the car, while the wet reflective pavement stays as print on the canvas. Narrow painted panels flank the cafe doors and lanterns hang over the entrance on wrought-iron brackets. To the right the street opens into the distance, where passers-by walk under umbrellas and the facades gradually lighten and dissolve into the damp air.
