Main Bead Embroidery Kit The passage
Description
“The passage” is an evening Paris street leading to an arch marked Passage de Pavenne. The lamps are already lit, the cobblestones shine, and the air is full of warm golden light.
What the picture shows
On the left is a delicatessen window with the sign Le Petit and a cart heaped with red and pink flowers. On the right a row of shopfronts runs under a striped red-and-white awning, with flowers spilling from hanging baskets along the wall. An old advertising poster with a woman's portrait shows in the upper left. The colours are warm — brick, ochre and gold, with blue accents on the signs. Beads cover the carved arch, the lamps, the flowers, the awnings and the windows, while the far perspective beyond the arch stays as print, so the eye really travels into the depth. The pavement is laid in small slabs that narrow toward the arch, and that is what sets the perspective. A blue sign hangs above the shopfronts on the left, while a blue-and-white canopy with a wrought-iron lamp on a bracket runs along the right. A few tables and chairs are set out right on the pavement to the right.
