What the picture shows

The composition is square, and at its centre long curved leaves interlace into a ring that runs out past a painted frame. Four large irises open among the leaves: two on the left and below, one in profile on the right, another at the top. The petals are pink with lilac and white highlights and yellow beards. Three dragonflies fly between the flowers, with transparent silver-blue wings and long bodies. The background is sharp and stylised: juicy lime green in the middle, blue-violet triangular planes in the corners, and a thin square frame inside the field. Beads cover the iris petals, all the leaves, the wings and bodies of the dragonflies and the line of the frame; the flat colour fields of the background stay as print on the canvas.
