Main Bead Embroidery Kit Berlin
Description
“Berlin” is a watercolour portrait of the cathedral on Gendarmenmarkt with its tall dome and columned portico. A calm city study in light tones.
What the picture shows
The building is seen from below and slightly to the side, so the columns of the portico run in a strong perspective while the dome rises straight into the sky. The walls are pale ochre with blue-grey shadows between the columns; the drum of the dome is ringed with windows and small columns, and the dome itself is deep turquoise, with gilded figures at the corners of the roof and a golden spire on top. A band of dark green trees runs along the street, and a few small figures in blue, red and ochre can be seen below. The sky is light with soft grey clouds. Beads cover the dome, the gilded sculptures and spire, the column capitals, the relief on the pediment and the darkest patches of foliage — the accents are few, so the kit stitches quickly despite its large format.
