What the picture shows

The figure sits at the centre, turned slightly aside. The headdress is white with a pale blue pattern, and long pink strands of beads fall from it to frame her face. Her clothing combines a turquoise blouse with wide sleeves and a pink floral pattern with a darker, woven-textured sarafan; a plait comes over one shoulder. In her hands are a rounded vessel in warm brown and a casket with a pink lid. A bunch of grapes with carved leaves hangs at the upper right, and a suspended jug appears out of the dusk on the left. The palette runs on turquoise, pink and golden olive. Beadwork covers the clothing, the headdress, the drops and the objects she holds, while the face and the deep background stay as print on the canvas.
