What the picture shows

The woman, her dark hair pinned up and set with a pale flower, stands barefoot, leaning slightly towards the child. The little girl in a pink bonnet holds out a teddy bear to her. Both wear dresses with the same grey-and-white pattern and pink trim — these fabrics carry the densest stitching in fine pale beads, so the pattern reads like lace. A yellow curtain hangs on the left with an old armchair beside it; on the right there is garden greenery, tree trunks and a woven fence. Two white doves peck at the ground by their feet.
