Main Bead Embroidery Kit Poppy dawn
Description
“Poppy dawn” is a spray of red poppies against a cool blue ground painted in broad strokes, as if the morning sky had not yet settled on a colour.
What the picture shows
The flowers climb diagonally from the lower edge: five open poppies with vivid red petals and dark hearts, several tight buds on slender hairy stems, and one small bud at the top that nearly disappears into the sky. The petals run from saturated red to almost orange where the light hits, so the blooms look half-transparent, the way poppies do against the sun. Leaves and stems are given in several greens, from grassy to deep emerald, with fine bristles along their edges. The background is painterly: blue, turquoise and white strokes flowing into one another with no defined horizon, and faintly drawn grasses greening at the bottom. That background stays largely as print on the artist canvas, while beadwork carries the flowers, the buds, the stems and the leaves — and they hold all the attention.
