Description

“Spring bloom” is a park at dusk: pink cherry blossom over water, a white stone bridge, and the lights of tall buildings in the distance.

What the picture shows

Spreading branches of a flowering tree fill the upper part of the frame — the blossoms are worked in pink and crimson beads with separate stitches, so the crown comes out soft and rounded. Below lies a quiet pond broken up by lamp reflections; a white swan glides across it and fallen petals scatter over the dark mirror of the water. An openwork white bridge with a balustrade spans the pond, laid in pale pearl and bluish beads, and it reads as the brightest element in the picture. Along the near bank runs a band of flowers: yellow, orange and white blooms among dense greenery. Two towers and a long façade with warm-lit windows rise against a lilac-blue sky, and a lamp post and a dark tree trunk stand on the left. The sky and the distant buildings stay largely as print on the artist canvas, while beadwork takes on the blossom, the bridge, the flowers and the reflections.
