Main Bead Embroidery Kit Roshan

“Roshan” is a calm evening still life in warm gold and red: a decanter, a tall ewer, a cup of coffee and a broken pomegranate on a silver tray.

What the picture shows

A tall faceted ewer with a narrow neck stands at the centre, set off by a medallion with a flower, and beside it a squat glass decanter holding a brown drink under a round stopper. On the left a cup sits on its saucer, ringed with a line of pale beads like a band of silver. On the right a pomegranate lies split open on a tray: the seeds are strung as individual ruby-red beads, so they look wet and rounded. Everything rests on a golden satin cloth whose folds catch the light. The backdrop is a heavy drape in terracotta and brown stripes, and wide lace bands run down the left and right edges, beaded as a net with scalloped edging. Glass, metal, pomegranate and lace are beaded, while the satin cloth itself stays largely as print on the artist canvas — that is what keeps the soft sheen of the silk.
