“Moroccan Women” is a decorative profile silhouette of a dark-skinned woman set against warm amber light, with large pale pink blooms in her hair and at her knees.

What the picture shows

The figure reads almost as a solid dark silhouette: she sits with her legs tucked in, her face turned aside, and the drawn lips and eyes are the only bright notes on the deep brown skin. Large open flowers, close to peonies, sit on her head and along the lower edge in soft white-pink and silvery lilac half-tones — they carry the densest beadwork and stand out sharply against the dark body. A wide collar necklace covers her neck and chest, strung in rows of small beads like a real piece of jewellery. The background is an even honey-gold glow that darkens to ochre at the edges, with ornamental bands down both sides: circular rosettes in violet, blue and gold, plus geometric braiding. The background itself stays as print on the artist canvas, so the beads work in accents: the flowers, the necklace, the ornament and the outline of the silhouette.
