Description

“Hot chocolate” is a companion miniature to the dessert series: a striped cup on a saucer, a cupcake in a fluted case and a small tartlet beside it. The colours run cooler than in the rest of the set — blue, green and yellow on a light green field.

What the picture shows

The cup is ruled with even horizontal bands of white, pale blue, deep blue and green, a dark line of the drink at the top, the handle thin and round. The saucer beneath is pale with blue and green rims. At the lower left stands a small golden-brown tartlet; at the right, a cupcake with fluted sides and a cream top dusted with green. The ground is an even light green, and a wide border of vertical stripes in blue, green, yellow and white runs around it, closed by a thin pale blue line. Almost everything is beaded: the cup, the saucer, both desserts and the striped border, while the green field stays as print on the artist canvas.
