Main Bead Embroidery Kit Senorita

“Senorita” is a portrait of a young woman seen from behind: she has turned her head to the side, showing a fine profile, smoothly gathered dark hair and a white flower pinned into it. A dark shawl with roses and a long fringe lies across her shoulders.

What the picture shows

The shawl is the centrepiece of the work: it is stitched in deep black-brown beads scattered with burgundy roses and small green leaves, and its edge finishes in a dense blue-grey fringe worked as vertical strands. The blouse is white, with a wide lace collar falling from the shoulders; the lace is beaded in pale, pearl-sheened tones, which makes it look lighter than everything around it. To the right stands a bouquet — burgundy and pink flowers mixed with white blossom and greenery. The background is warm ochre-brown, like aged plaster, and stays as print on the artist canvas, so the beaded shawl, lace and flowers stand clearly forward.
