Main Bead Embroidery Kit Island

“Island” is a broad, almost poster-like sunset: a large red disc settling into the water, an orange sky above, and the dark silhouette of a tree on the right. Small birds cross the face of the sun — the only movement in a very still picture.

What the picture shows

The composition is built from a handful of large colour areas with no extra detail. The sky is worked in orange beads with dark cloud strokes laid in horizontal bands; the sun is a saturated red disc, half sunk into the water. The water itself is purple and lilac, with a thin light path of reflection stretching towards the viewer. On the right stands a tree with a dark, open crown that lets the orange sky show through, and a nearly black band of shoreline closes the picture at the bottom. Beads cover the entire surface, so the image reads as a mosaic: the forms are reduced to silhouettes, and what carries the piece is the contrast of warm against cool.
