Main Bead Embroidery Kit Odyssey

“Odyssey” is a restrained still life in silver and pearl tones: a dark stemmed goblet, two sea shells and long strands of pearls laid loosely across the whole surface. The mood is calm and slightly museum-like.

What the picture shows

The goblet is worked in dark, almost black beads with greenish glints — the single deep accent in the composition, and the anchor of its centre. On the right lies a large shell with pink and ochre mother-of-pearl shimmer and a wavy lip; on the left a smaller fan-shaped one in pale pink. Two rows of small pearls run through the picture: one strand hangs from above in two arcs, the other lies along the very bottom edge. The background is light grey-blue with faintly suggested stonework, and it stays as print on the artist canvas, so the beaded objects sit raised against a soft, smoky base. The overall range is cool and very pale — only the goblet breaks that quiet.
