Main Bead Embroidery Kit Iris

“Iris” is a vertical panel built on sharp colour contrast: blue and violet irises against a hot coral ground. The stems and long leaves stretch upwards and cross one another, so the composition feels alive, much like a painted study made with a broad brush.

What the picture shows

The flowers move from dense blue and violet at the petal edges to a lighter sky tone in the heart, with yellow beards; several of them open in different directions across the upper part of the panel. The leaves are ribbon-like in several greens, almost emerald in places, curving in long arcs that carry the rhythm of the whole piece. The background is laid in broad patches of coral, crimson and orange with lilac washes and dark strokes; it stays as print on the artist canvas, while the beadwork covers the flowers and foliage. That is exactly why the cool blue rings out so strongly against the hot ground, and why the panel reads as a block of colour even from across the room.
