Main Bead Embroidery Kit Hibiscus

“Hibiscus” is a vertical summer picture: a blue straw hat hangs on long ribbons while a branch of large pink-crimson flowers spills down beside it. The background is a clear sky gradient, which makes the whole scene feel light and almost seaside.

What the picture shows

The flowers are worked in pink and crimson beads with darker veins radiating from a yellow centre; there are fully open blooms, tight buds and small white flowers among them. The leaves are rich green in several shades, with toothed edges and pale veining. The hat is stitched in concentric rings of light and deep blue beads — the way that best conveys woven straw — and the ribbons fall away in a dark blue band that holds the vertical of the whole composition. The background, a soft shift from sky blue at the top to greenish yellow below, stays as print on the artist canvas, so the beaded flowers and hat clearly stand forward.
