Description

“Swang song” is a quiet park landscape: a pair of white swans glides across a mirror-still pond, surrounded by weeping willows, flowering shrubs and a pale lilac morning sky. The mood is calm and almost soundless, the way it is by the water early in the day.

What the picture shows

At the centre are two swans worked in white and pearl-grey beads with orange bills; behind them the motionless water carries long reflections of the trees and the bank. The left side is closed off by a weeping willow with streams of pale green foliage, while deeper in the scene a single tree burns with a copper-red crown — the main warm accent of the whole piece. The foreground is planted generously: pink and lilac blossom on the right, small yellow and white flowers at the water's edge, tall reeds on the left. The sky above shifts from pale lilac to pink. Beads cover almost the entire surface, water and lawn included, so the picture comes out dense and the reflections read as clearly as the trees themselves.
