“Fish – 2” is an underwater scene: a large angelfish with long trailing fins drifts through turquoise water while two small rusty-orange fish circle nearby.

What the picture shows

Water fills nearly the whole canvas — pale turquoise with sunlight rippling across the surface — and it stays as print on the artist canvas, which keeps the piece clear and light. Beadwork covers the fish, the seaweed at the bottom and the small bubbles. Twenty-one colours across 2,358 beads make for very varied, almost rainbow scales: green, yellow, red, pink and blue all shift within a single fish. The angelfish’s long fins are set as lines of individual beads, the weeds as green and red stitches. There is not much stitching overall, so the kit moves quickly while the colour range keeps it from feeling repetitive. The large angelfish holds the centre, the two small fish the upper corners, and the weeds rise from below, so the underwater space feels deep. Air bubbles are scattered through the water in pale beads and add movement to the scene.
