Main Bead Embroidery Kit Summer

“Summer” is a bright square composition: three butterflies fly above large yellow roses while the background burns with red, orange, green and blue.

What the picture shows

The painting is deliberately blurred, almost abstract: the rose petals are only suggested in patches of yellow and green, and the ground shifts from a blue corner to a fiery red centre. Beadwork covers the butterflies alone — two blue-violet ones with patterned wings and one pink with a dark body — plus their fine antennae and the small specks around them. Nine colours produce crisp blue, violet, pink and silvery wings whose cool tone plays against the hot background. The rest of the canvas stays as print, so the stitching takes up little space yet becomes the centre of the picture and holds the eye. The butterflies are set on a diagonal, from the bottom left corner to the right edge, and that line holds the composition together.
